Office Volunteers

Description of Duties
-
Assist church staff with assembling, folding, collating, and sorting mailings.
- Assist with answering phones, taking messages, directing callers to voice mail or referring callers to appropriate staff member or lay leader in various areas of ministry.
- Assist with making photocopies, sending faxes and operating other office equipment as requested.
- Use computer programs to prepare a variety of printed documents.

Responsible to
Administrative Staff

Time Requirement

Part-time unpaid position, one to four hours, depending upon the job. Some of the duties can be fulfilled from home.

Term
The office assistants can help in the office on a regular or on-call basis.

Training Provided
Work alongside other office workers.

Qualifications, Skills, and Gifts
- Some clerical experience.
- Basic organizational skills.
- Good awareness of office equipment and methods.
- Good people skills.
- Able to perform services independently and without direct supervision.
- Spiritual gift(s) desired: administration, helps

Benefits to the Volunteer
By providing support to paid church office staff, the office assistant has the opportunity to be involved in the lives and ministry of the church and its outreach to the community, and to get to know the members of the congregation better. The office assistant will play an important role in enabling the church staff to be more efficient and effective in their ministry.
