Description of Duties
- Assist with the maintenance of the lawns and landscaping of the church
facility.
- Work with and keep facility manager, grounds volunteers, and/or church
staff informed of grounds maintenance problems and issues.
- Assist with regular lawn-mowing, trimming, weeding, fertilizing, tree
and shrub pruning, repair and reseeding of damaged lawn areas, picking
up of debris in parking lot and other exterior areas.
- Support organized work parties to perform maintenance and upgrades of
grounds that are not or cannot be performed by outside contractors.
Time Requirements
The time required varies and is flexible. Duties are divided among
multiple team members with skills, gifts, and interests in various
areas.
Term
Ideally, grounds members will serve for at least two years, fulfilling
the responsibilities and duties listed, as well as carrying out projects
that cannot be performed by professional contractors for financial or
other reasons.

- Take pride in the grounds of the church—keeping it neat, safe, and
attractive.
- A servant’s heart—seeing the grounds not as something the team “owns,”
but rather as an extension of the church’s ministry.
- A cooperative team spirit.
- A willingness to learn new tasks and functions.
- Basic knowledge of one or more of the following: lawns and
landscaping, sprinkler systems, lawn equipment, etc.
- Personal integrity and self-motivation in the fulfillment of ministry.
