Adult Ministries

We have many different opportunities for adults. Check out our Women's Ministry and Men of Peace ministry.

Sunday School

Daily Discipleship
The class will be focusing on the Gospel lesson used in worship each weekend. It will be an opportunity to explore the implications of the text and its impact on our daily lives.

Book of Faith
This class will be studying the Gospel of John, using the newly published Book of Faith Learning Study Guides and, of course, our Bibles.
"There are four Gospels in the Bible that tell the good news of Jesus Christ: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The first three are called the Synoptic Gospels because they share the same view and similar or overlapping stories. John's Gospel, however, is very different in writing and approach. It opens with a cosmic approach that speaks of Jesus' presence and relationship with God even before the beginning of time and creation. The significance of the depth of this relationship is an important theme that runs through the entire book. It also has a deeper meaning for Jesus' disciples. Through him, they too are intimately connected with God. Keeping this in mind, we will look for the many ways in which it appears throughout this book of faith." (Book of Faith, John, Session 1)
As we study and explore this Scripture, we will have ample opportunity for conversation about how the text is speaking to us as individuals, in our daily lives and in our congregational life. Know that you are welcome to join this class at any time as we continue to study the Word of God.

Gospel Application Study
Jesus clearly taught that the kingdom of God is here for people to experience in their lives right now. If that is true, why do we struggle with each day? Did Jesus really mean each of us can experience the joy of living with him right now? This class will address these questions and many more. At the end of the class, each participant should be able to:

  • Define new ways that they feel Jesus is teaching them
  • Clearly define the Kingdom of God/Heaven
  • Clearly define the mission of Christ’s church
  • Display a greater understanding of Jesus’ will for their lives
  • Display a greater understanding of the spiritual disciplines, and how those disciplines can strengthen their relationship with Jesus

The method for achieving these objectives will be to discuss what Jesus taught through the lens of
author N.T. Wright’s book Surprised By Joy. The class will discuss how the Kingdom of God is actively present, though not yet available to us in perfection. We will discuss what Jesus taught about the Kingdom and how it can be applied to our lives today. Wright is one of the most important Biblical scholars of this generation. He has spent much of his career diving deep into the culture of those people who first heard Jesus' message. By understanding intimately how those first Christians understood Jesus' message, Wright gives us clear direction in applying that teaching to our lives. "Wright convincingly argues that what we believe about life after death directly affects what we believe about life before death. For if God intends to renew the whole of creation - and if this has already begun in Jesus' resurrection - the church cannot stop at "saving souls" but must anticipate the eventual renewal by working for God's Kingdom in the wider world, bringing healing hope in the present life." (Wright, 2008, cover flap) Join us as we discuss how we can apply what Jesus taught, helping God's Kingdom to come and His will to be done in our lives, in our families, in our church, in our community, and on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Growing in Christ
Growing in Christ at PeaceWest is a study of the main Old Testament stories and how they show Christ. We see how David the cornerstone of the Jewish Faith and other heroes of the Old Testament were sinners, similar to us, but by repenting and unquestionable faith in God they were forgiven.

Women's Ministry

There are many small women's groups that meet at various times and locations during the month. Please feel free to visit with each circle to find out which one is a better fit for you.

Esther Bible Study
The Esther Bible Study group meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 12:30 pm.

Faith & Fellowship

Hope Circle/Ruth Circle

Lily Pad Quilters
The Lily Pad Quilters are a group of quilters who gather for fellowship and to do what they love to do! They meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Many of the hand-made items are donated to the Peace Food Pantry as well as the Romania Children's Fund.

Secret Sisters
The Secret Sister group is made up of women who draw names each year for their "Secret Sister." For special events (such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) or just as a kind thought or gesture, they send cards or a small gift to their sister in Christ. At the end of the year, the Secret Sisters are revealed at their annual Christmas party.
