posting on the and advertising on the local news channels (KNWA and 40/29) and local radio
stations. In the event that Rogers Public Schools are closed but the weather is deemed non-life
threatening PKLC will open at 9:00 am. Please keep in mind that we can only accept children
for the amount of staff that are available to care for them. We reserve the right to ask parents to
pick up early (i.e. 4:00 p.m.) when weather conditions are expected to deteriorate throughout the
day. We feel it is important that parents are confident that their children are safe and secure until
they can get here.
FIRE AND TORNADO PREPAREDNESS POLICY
PeaceKids Learning Center conducts monthly fire and tornado drills to prepare children for an
emergency. Each classroom is equipped with an emergency bag containing water, snacks and
first aid kits as well as family emergency contact information.
Fire procedures:
The actual building fire alarm is used to prepare the children for evacuation of the
building.
Children are evacuated to the front parking lot in an orderly and timely manner to
assemble and count.
In the event of an actual fire children will move as far away from the building as possible to the
lower area near Hwy 71. Parents will be contacted by staff as soon as possible to pick up the
children.
Tornado procedures:
An air horn is used for drill purposes.
Classes will evacuate to interior areas without windows.
In the event of an actual tornado strike children will remain in the interior areas until all danger
has passed and safety can be established. Children will remain with their teachers until rescue
assistance arrives. When all danger has passed, family emergency contacts will be contacted to
pick up children.
Loss of building: In the event a disaster deems the 805 W. Olrich facility unavailable for child
care use, Peace Lutheran Church located at 5891 Bellview would become a temporary facility
for child care. A team of Church and PeaceKids leadership would develop a permanent plan.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
In the event a natural disaster occurs and the PeaceKids/ Peace Lutheran Church Olrich St.
location is unavailable, PeaceKids staff will be available for care of children at the Peace
Lutheran Church Bellview Rd. location at 5891 Bellview Rd.
