PeaceKids Monthly
The fourth of July holiday has
always been special to me. My dad was in
the Army for 22 years. He and my mom
married on July 4….so he’d “always be
guaranteed” to have their anniversary off
from work….after he retired from the
Army, my dad loved setting off fireworks
for us kids. That holiday was the holiday
we got together with aunts, uncles, cous-
ins, in-laws and even some outlaws. This
holiday always brings out the little girl in
me, my patriotism, and a little sadness
because my dad and mom are no longer
with us. I encourage everyone to cherish
this holiday with your families. Take some
time to sit back and thank God for all of
your blessings. It NEVER hurts to be
thankful at least twice a year!
PeaceKids has seen some changes
over the last month. Ms. Teddi, Ms.
Brooklyn, Ms. Norrelle and Ms. Cris have
all moved on to bigger and better things in
their lives. We wish them well in their
endeavors. New faces around PKLCP are:
Ms. Nicole in Penguins, Ms. Samantha in
Frogs, and Ms. Shelby in Monkeys. An-
other switch we’ve made is Ms. Melinda
and Ms. Kristen have moved as a team to
the Lions class. Ms. Amber moved from
the Bears class to lead the Frogs class;
and Ms. Callie has taken over the Bears
class with Ms. Melinda O. helping her.
Changes like this seem to cycle through

August 2     First day of school for those attending continuous learning
                     calendar schools
every couple of years. PKLCP has and
continues to build a strong team.
We’re not perfect in all that we do, but
we do all to the Glory of God!
We continue to strive to
improve the offerings on our menu
with fresh fruits and vegetables and
less pre-processed items. We are cre-
ating a stronger APPARENT faith
base to our curriculum. And we are
continually thinking of ways to com-
municate with you, the parents.
One way to get and stayed
informed is to attend the Parent
Involvement Team meetings. The one
or two faithful people who attend talk
about REAL situations such as the
departure of staff members, improving
the playgrounds, fundraiser ideas,
and community involvement. Please
consider joining our group on July 20
as we begin putting together our Fall
Festival (a fund-raiser and community
event all in one). If we get little
participation this idea will slip away
as it takes more than a couple of peo-
ple to plan and pull something of this
magnitude together. How cool will it
be to get Peace Lutheran family,
PKLCP families and PKLCP staff
working together on this project?
