The Lunch Crew Bible Study
The Lunch Crew Bible Study is a way to gain insight into the original context of the authors of our Biblical texts. It is estimated that culture makes a dramatic shift every seven years. For example, our children have no idea what an 8-track cassette is or the joys of leaving the house after breakfast each summer day knowing that your mom did not expect to see you until dinner time. In order to understand much of the Bible, it is necessary to understand what it was like to live when those words were written and to hear the words as the original audience heard them; to hear music the way they heard it, and enjoy the summer days the way they did. The objective of this study is to teach some of the basic tools for understanding the context of the book being studied. That context includes the particular author’s style, how he wanted to pass on God’s words, and the intention of God in recording the lessons the way that He did. We also look at the societal context as well as discuss some of the literary techniques of the time.
Bring your Bible, your hunger for biblical understanding, and your hunger for a great Schlotsky’s sandwich! Resource handouts will be given to participants in order to enhance the study as needed.

When: Monday from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Location: Schlotsky’s on Walnut St. in Rogers
