Congratulations on your engagement to be married! The Peace
Lutheran staff is pleased to be able to minister to your needs as
you prepare to be married. We hope this booklet will be helpful
to you as you plan your wedding at Peace.
The Wedding Date & Location
As soon as you have made your decision to have your wedding at
Peace Lutheran Church, please contact the church office to
establish the date and location of your wedding. We will try to
accommodate you, but the earlier you arrange the date, the less
likely it is for scheduling conflicts to arise. Sometimes a situation
will arise in which the Pastor decides it is best not to perform the
marriage. The Pastor reserves the right to refuse a wedding. After
the Pastor has agreed to perform your wedding ceremony, you
will need to establish a date and time for the rehearsal with the
Pastor as well. Weddings cannot be scheduled later than 3 PM on
Saturdays due to our Saturday evening worship service at 5 PM.
Traditionally, weddings do not take place at Peace during Holy
Week (the week before Easter).
Pre-Marital Counseling
The Pastor will not preside at a wedding that has not had
adequate planning and preparation. Though a marriage is a very
important ceremony, it is predominately the sharing of a life
between two people, which extends far beyond a ceremony. Our
hope is that you will prepare for your life together as well as your
wedding; therefore, pre-marriage counseling is required. This
ministry to you takes an investment of time, so again, early
contact with the pastor is essential. Counseling will be
conducted either by the Pastor or the PeaceCare Counseling
Center. We require a $35 administrative fee for the use of the
Prepare/Enrich inventory tool used during counseling. All
appointments must be kept, and all counseling sessions must be
completed prior to the wedding. Please plan accordingly.
Wedding Coordinator
All prospective couples should contact our wedding coordinator
as soon as possible. They will assist you in planning your
wedding service at Peace and will be present on your wedding
day to help organize and make sure the ceremony runs smoothly.
