Greeter/Welcome Center Host

Ministry Area:

Position Purpose:
A warm and friendly greeting makes visitors and members feel welcome to our church. Guests are then met as they exit the worship center in the Welcome Center area of the narthex/commons, and offered a gift for worshiping with us. They are asked to fill out a “Guest” card and invited to the fellowship area.

Ministry Description:
1. Greeters will stand at interior doors and be identified by a name tag.
2. Welcome those who enter, giving a warm handshake and greeting.
3. Arrive 15 minutes before the assigned service begins and stay for 15 minutes after the service.
4. Thank guests for worshiping with a gift and invite them to fellowship.

Timeframe:
Volunteers serve for a quarterly schedule. Frequency is determined by the number of greeters available. Serving regularly allows greeters to distinguish between visitors and those who attend the church regularly.

Skills to Be Used/Developed:
A cheerful and warm approach.

Training/Resources:
Instructions will be provided by the chairperson; observe other experienced greeters.

Benefit to the Volunteer:
This is an excellent way to meet friends and visitors to the church and to “set the tone” for their worship experience.
