Contemporary Band
"Good News! Praise Team
& Band"
Good News!
Praise Teams leads worship every Sunday for the 11 am
service. Their rehearsal time is prior to the first service, beginning
at 9:45 am in the Worship Center. This is to facilitate use of sound
system and media as they pertain to effective worship. The
instrumentalists are always looking for more players. An audition
consists of sitting in with the band and keeping up with a very
fast-paced rehearsal. Currently auditions are not necessary but one
assumes a rudimentary knowledge of music theory and a good ear. Most
music is a lead sheet format with melodic line and chords over lyrics.
Harmonies are improvised. Inspiration comes from Darlene Zschech and
Hillsong-Australia, Matt Redmond, Dennis Jernigan, Paul Baloche, and
whatever is current on the radio that is worshipful and Christ-centered.
Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir rehearses each Sunday morning in the Music Suite at
8 am. New members are assigned a robe and music. This choir leads 8:30
am service and special worship
events, as well. The Sanctuary Choir is non-auditioned and welcomes all
who love to sing and are committed to rehearsals and worship. It is a
fellowship with a fellowship as deep and abiding friendships are formed
to last within this body of Christ. Basic elements of music theory and
vocal technique are stressed in a non-threatening atmosphere ensconced
in prayers and devotions. Most music is SATB. Some solo work is
auditioned. A wide variety of music is explored but the fundamental
accompaniment is organ or piano.
